About this course
The method
High-frequency sound is introduced into the material and the echoes returned from the back wall or from discontinuities are evaluated.
What it detects
Internal discontinuities such as lack of fusion, cracks, slag and porosity, with their position and size.
Materials
Most metals, and many plastics and composites.
Candidates are trained to
Set up and calibrate equipment; detect, locate, size and evaluate discontinuities in welded plate, pipe and tee joints; prepare written instructions and report against codes and standards.
